Presentation

I am a university lecturer in music pedagogy and my research interests relate to children's and young people's musical learning and different musical learning cultures. The current focus of my research is children's democratic right to express themselves in and through music and I mainly study music making and singing and playing in an ensemble. I also research how aesthetics, art and culture can be used to develop pupils' and student teachers' academic literacy and critical thinking. Furthermore, I also research the professional development of music teachers. Theoretically, I have a particular interest in the concepts of primary, secondary and tertiary artefacts.

I have worked as a music teacher in elementary school where I strived for a music-sounding and music-making classroom.

My teaching and research is based on the assumption that students' and students' experiences and context play a role in their learning, as does the relationship between teacher - student and student. I advocate teachers with subject depth, didactic skill where the teacher's activity rests on a scientific basis.

To create and maintain a democratic society, research, teaching and development are needed in a number of areas. My contribution in this has the starting point that individuals must be able to express themselves, think critically and understand what is abstract as it is essential in and for a democratic society.
