Presentation

Israa Ahmad is a doctoral candidate affiliated with the Department of Social Work at Malmö University. She holds a master’s degree in social work and has experience working in social services, focusing on unemployment and poverty. Her current research examines the evolving landscape of post-COVID hybrid social work, investigating the profound implications of the COVID-19 pandemic as a societal crisis and the increasing digitalisation of services. Her study specifically explores the experiences of social workers and clients as they navigate challenges and develop coping strategies in an increasingly complex and digitalised environment. By analysing the transformative effects of hybrid work practices, Israa seeks to illuminate the shifting dynamics between social workers and clients. Her research aims to unpack the complexities of human connections in a crisis-driven world, where distance and digitalisation create both barriers and opportunities. Ultimately, her work highlights how these changes reshape social work practice and its role in addressing social issues in the post-pandemic era and beyond.

Israa Ahmad’s broader research interests include professional and organisational structures within social work, migration, and the well-being of children and youth.
