Presentation

I research care in close relationships, and how the Swedish welfare state has changed the way people live, relate to and care in everyday life. In particular, my research has focused on how Swedish welfare in recent decades - through privatisation, dismantling, globalisation and precarious work - creates new inequalities in the practice of care, linked to gender, class and ethnicity. Empirically, I have studied, for example, family practices in families who buy care from au pairs and nannies, the care market for the elderly, and intergenerational care. I also work on developing theories and methods for how we can understand and capture the complexity of care - not least from the perspective of children.
