About the project
The project aims to transform the knowledge from Camilla Palm’s doctoral dissertation, Navigating Conflicting Norms on Body and Sexuality, into a practical guide for conversation. The dissertation explores sexual health and female genital mutilation/cutting. By developing a support tool, the research findings will be made useful for professionals working with these issues.
The dissertation examines how young and adult women who live with or are affected by female genital cutting/mutilation, as well as professionals who work with young people, understand and navigate the different meanings of these practices in Sweden. The findings have been published in a compilation thesis and in scientific articles in English, which are often inaccessible to those outside academia.
To increase the usability and accessibility of the research, the findings will be adapted into a support material. This work is carried out in collaboration with the County Administrative Board of Skåne and will be developed together with professionals who meet the target group, ensuring that the conversation support tool is tailored to everyday professional practice. The experiences from the project will be analyzed to generate knowledge about the challenges and opportunities of this approach to research-based knowledge dissemination.
